An Oor Wullie decked out in the colours of Inverness Caledonian Thistle sold for £4000 at auction.

It was part of a group of 50 individually designed versions of the iconic Scottish comic character that formed the Oor Wullie Big Bucket Trail across Scotland over the summer and were auctioned off in Thainstone in Aberdeenshire last night.

In aid of the Archie Foundation, which is the official charity of the Highland Children's Unit at Raigmore Hospital, the auction raised a total of £316,700.

While the Inverness Caley Thistle Oor Wullie was a strong performer it was bested on the night by its north rival, with a statue in Ross County colours going for £4200.
