Emergency services attended a one-car crash near Loch Ness this afternoon.

A woman escaped serious injury following a one-car crash near Loch Ness.

The incident happened on the A82 at the junction with Blackfold Road about one mile north of the Clansman Hotel at 1.05pm today.

The woman free herself from the vehicle, a Smart Forfour, but two fire appliances from Inverness were called to the scene to make the area safe.

The police also attended the incident.

The driver was handed over to the care of paramedics but it is understood she did not require hospital treatment.

The road was closed for a short while to allow recovery of the car.
