CROY and Culloden Moor Community Council is objecting to a planning application for the erection of a new dwelling near Croy west of the village on the B9006.

Members were told at their May meeting that the proposal involved the felling of a substantial number of trees and that there is an existing high water table on the site.

The proposal is to channel water into a ditch alongside the road.

Retired Highland councillor Roddy Balfour advised that the proposed application was contrary to planning policy and claimed the land is totally unsuitable due to it already being water logged.

It was agreed that the community council would also object to the application on the grounds of over-development of a site where there are existing homes and that it is not supported by the local development plan.

The council will also object on drainage grounds and loss of habitat.
