Footfall may have been down on previous years but Inverness bargain hunters still ventured out on Boxing Day.

The lower number could have been due to the fact that it was a Sunday and some shops were not starting their post-Christmas sales today.

Queues were spotted outside certain outlets, such as Lush in the High Street, and Jackie Cuddy, the manager of the Eastgate Centre, said it was quieter than usual yesterday and added: "It was a Sunday and there wasn't a huge queue outside Next waiting for it to open. But there was a queue outside Boots."

She said that trade had picked up today with more shoppers in the centre.
