Number of coronavirus cases in Highlands rises by 29 in last 24 hours

THE number of cases of coronavirus in the Highlands increased by more than 10 per cent since yesterday, new figures have shown.
A total of 29 more cases of the virus were confirmed by NHS Highlands, taking the region's total number of known cases to 288.
Some 273 people have tested positive across the whole of Scotland since yesterday, taking the national total to 11,927.
And 1559 people have died across the country since the outbreak began, a rise of 44 on the same point yesterday.
In the Highlands, the number of people being treated in hospital with suspected or confirmed Covid-19 increased from 34 to 36. And the number of people in intensive care is fewer than five.
Elsewhere in the north, NHS Grampian recorded another 23 positive tests, for an overall tally of 889. Its hospitals were also treating 125 people in hospital for the disease, with 12 receiving treatment in intensive care.
