North Highland Radio has announced that it has closed down.

In a statement, which was released through social media, a spokesman for the Dingwall-based internet broadcaster said: "It is with deep regret that we are to announce that North Highland Radio has taken the decision to turn off the desk and close the doors to the studio.

"It's been a hard decision but one that is for the best for us all."

They thanked various people including Lorraine Chisholm for her dedication, time and also for keeping the station up and running over the past three years and Andy Drew for his continued support, tech skills and willingness to help out at every turn.

In addition, thanks went to presenters past and present and the spokesman added: "The station would never have achieved so much without you and we will miss you all."

The spokesman particularly wanted to thank their listeners for every time they had tuned in to their shows. He added: "It really does mean so much to us and hurts so much to be saying goodbye. Thank you everyone it's been a blast that we will not forget."
