No wins in Shetland with 64% of vote

SHETLAND has voted No in the independence referendum.

Almost 10,000 people voted No (9,951) with 5,669 voting in favour of Yes. Fifteen ballots were spoilt.

The share of the vote in Shetland was 64%-36% in favour of No.

With three of the 32 council areas now declared Yes has 26,902 votes, with 38,991 in favour of a No.

So far the three declared regions have come from areas with small populations. The big cities, which have almost a third of the vote, are not expected to declare for several hours.
