NIGHT time survey work will cause disruption for motorists on the A9 and A82 near the Longman roundabout in Inverness next week.

Topographical surveys to inform the design work for the new Longman junction improvement scheme will start on Monday for five nights.

The work will be on the central reservation of the trunk roads on their approaches to the Longman roundabout.

Some traffic management measures will be required with the outside lanes closed between the hours of 8pm and 6am to ensure the safety of road workers. Transport Scotland said the timing of the works had been planned to minimise any impact on road users.

A Transport Scotland spokesperson said: “This topographical survey work is needed to get important information as we progress the design of the Longman Junction Improvement scheme.

"We apologise for any inconvenience these works will cause and would thank road users and local communities in advance for their patience during the works. The contractor will closely monitor the operation of the traffic management measures to ensure that delays are kept to a minimum.

“We would ask drivers to plan their journeys in advance using the Traffic Scotland website, twitter feed or Traffic Scotland radio.”
