An essential upgrade to the IT system for NHS Highland is taking place tomorrow (Saturday) morning.

The upgrade will result in a number of internal systems being unavailable for a short period of time.

A NHS Highland spokesperson said: "It will also mean that on Saturday 11 November, between 8am and 8.45am members of the public will not be able to call into Raigmore Hospital switchboard as the telephony system will also be affected.

"Please call back if you are not able to get through immediately or, if you require health advice please visit NHS inform.

"If there is a need to contact you about a loved one in hospital during this time the ward staff will phone you directly from a mobile phone.

"This is a planned interruption and contingency measures are in place to ensure a safe service is maintained.

"We are sorry for the inconvenience this will cause but would ask for patience as this essential piece of work is carried out."
