NHS Highland area's Covid-19 total passes 1300 mark after 14 new cases overnight; news comes as Scotland detected 1264 cases in the past day

MORE than 1300 people have tested positive for Covid-19 across the NHS Highland region since the coronavirus pandemic began.
The region's cumulative total passed the 1300 mark to reach 1311 cases after a further 14 infections were detected overnight.
There were 1264 positive tests across Scotland in the past day.
The number of people requiring hospital treatment for the virus fell slightly – down eight to 1241.
Of those, some 88 people were in intensive care – seven lower than Tuesday's update.
Sadly, 54 new fatalities were recorded among those who previously tested positive for Covid-19.
Meanwhile, elsewhere in the north, there were no new cases in NHS Eileanan Siar, NHS Shetland or NHS Orkney.
Forty-seven new cases were detected across the NHS Grampian area, taking its cumulative tally to 4062.
And NHS Tayside reported 87 positive tests in the past 24 hours – for a running tally of 5232.
Scotland has now detected 84,523 cases of Covid-19 since the start of the pandemic.
