THE music festival that became Scotland's first live outdoor gig since the big Covid lockdown, will not be repeated this month due to disappointing ticket sales.

The organisers of Capers in Cannich with its slogan Jig, Swig and Sleep, are instead staging a weekend event from September 17 to 19 and urge festival lovers to get behind them.

The first Capers in Cannich at the end of May was a success with around 250 revellers turning up at the village near Beauly.

Since then three Capers have been held, with the last being at the start of this month.

Festival-goers sit near the stage on straw bales, and order food and drink to their seats using a mobile phone app.

A spokesperson for Capers in Cannich said: “We’re saddened to say that our next festival, set to take place between 27 - 30 August, can no longer go ahead.

"We are a small event working tirelessly to put on a unique experience for people in a safe environment and we continue to be blown away by all the positive feedback we’ve received from glampers, artists and suppliers.

“Unfortunately, we haven’t achieved the ticket sales we need for our August event to be viable so we have had to take the difficult decision to cancel this weekend and concentrate on an incredible final weekend between September 17 - 19.

"Wee festivals like ours are made possible by you - our amazing supporters - and we do hope people will get behind us and join us in Cannich for an unforgettable final Capers festival of 2021.”

A packed menu of entertainment has been booked, including Manran, Cameron Barnes from Fife, and Scooty & The Skyhooks.

The first Capers in Cannich was hailed as a "moment to remember" marking live entertainment returning to Scotland in a safe environment.
