THE £1.6 million project to revamp Inverness’s historic Victorian Market has moved a step forward with a marketing brochure now available for 15 new units within the Market Hall.

The project aims to attract the best of local food and drink producers to create a vibrant destination.

The major refurbishment work is under way with an anticipated opening planned for early 2022.

The Category B listed venue is managed by Highland Council on behalf of the Inverness Common Good Fund.

A council spokesman said: "The refurbishment will open up the Market Hall to highlight the original features and create a lively and open space. This exciting refurbishment will focus on a food and beverage theme.

"The large central space will be available for modest events and create a vibrant place to eat and socialise. In addition to the central space, 15 new units are being created, ranging in size from 17 sq m to 117 sq m, and offering a great opportunity for new or existing businesses."

The closing date for firms is noon on May 26.
