Inverness Town House has a new tenant after Hitrans moved its head office into the iconic building's upper floor.

The regional transport partnership for the Highlands and Islands has 11 staff and had been based for the past 10 years on the second floor of 7 Ardross Terrace in Inverness.

Despite its move from there into Inverness Town House its telephone number – 01463 719002 – remains the same, as does the email address info@hitrans.org.uk.

Meanwhile, the partnership is currently advertising to fill a vacancy on its board for a non-councillor member.

The deadline for applications is January 8. The board, which meets four times each year, comprises five councillor representatives and three non-councillor members.

Hitrans' principal duty and responsibility is developing and overseeing the delivery of a regional transport strategy, which sets out a vision, objectives and proposed actions for how transport will support and promote economic prosperity; connect communities and reduce social exclusion; and improve environmental sustainability, health and wellbeing.

It is one of seven statutory regional transport partnerships established under the Transport (Scotland) Act 2005 to take a regional approach to transport planning and delivery. It works across the administrative areas of Argyll and Bute (excluding Helensburgh and Lomond), Eilean Siar, Highland, Moray and Orkney Islands councils.
