THE new tattie scone world champion has revealed he had never made a tattie scone until the eve of the competition.

Paul Douglas, manager of the King Street Co-op in Nairn, wowed judges with his “Scottish Scone” which featured caramelised red onion at the World Tattie Scone Competition.

The contest was part of the inaugural three-day Taste of Nairn event which started on Friday.
