ONE of Britain’s best known sandwich shops could soon have another new home in Inverness.

A planning application lodged with Highland Council could see Subway open a new takeaway in the Eastgate Shopping Centre at Falcon Square.

If approved, it would make it a neighbour of Burger King, which was the first resident of new food retail units created at the centre when it opened last September.

Subway already has three existing franchises in Inverness – one in Harbour Road in the Longman Industrial Estate and the others in the city centre, in Inglis Street and within the Eastgate Centre foodhall.

The company would not say if the new application would be a fourth Inverness outlet or would replace one of the existing stores.

A Subway spokeswoman said: “Unfortunately, we are unable to comment on planning applications while they are under review.”

At 1530 square feet the Falcon Square unit would offer more space than Subway’s current Eastgate home, as well as offering a more visible street-front location.
