Mainly Music at Inverness Baptist Church is part of an internationally-recognised organisation run by volunteers.

Children are introduced to music through simple songs with actions, instruments and fun props and families are also given a chance to think about God.

There is also playtime with toys plus a snack for children and parents.

Shirley Wiseman, leader for the Inverness group, said children aged from birth to five, will meet every Wednesday, starting next week, between 10am and 11.30am at the church in Castle Street.

“Throughout the sessions, children will develop gross and fine motor skills, language, imagination, mathematical and pre-reading as well as social skills,” she said.

The church is also resuming its popular free English classes for people from overseas.

A spokeswoman said: “Extending a warm welcome to internationals in our midst is an important part of what we do.”

Lessons take place at 10.30am or 6.30pm on Tuesdays, with registration next Tuesday.

“Offering morning and evening sessions will hopefully allow everyone who is interested to take advantage of these free classes and improve their English,” the spokeswoman added.
