A new hot food takeaway specialising in “designer pizza in 180 seconds” is ready to grab a slice of the culinary action in Inverness.

Businessman Javid Aziz has secured planning approval for shop front signs for the Fireaway pizza franchise on Harbour Road.

Created by Mario Aleppo, the Fireaway concept is said to be inspired by the pizza recipe his Italian grandmother brought to the UK when she emigrated from the Amalfi Coast in the 1950s.

The franchise’s literature describes how the “artisan” pizzas, using fresh ingredients and handmade dough, are fired in a 400-degree oven and ready for the customer in three minutes.

The first Fireaway branch opened in London in 2016 and since then over 120 more have followed in England, Wales and Scotland - including a new one in Aberdeen last autumn.

As well as signature pizza dishes, the outlet offers a range of 17 starters and side dishes, seven desserts and a range of drinks.

An opening date has not yet been announced.
