New Inverness Business Improvement District (BID) chief executive Mike Evans is looking forward to the challenge of helping the Highlands' commercial heart recover from the Covid.

Introducing himself on the Inverness BID Facebook page, Mr Evans said he is delighted on the leadership role following the retirement of his near namesake Mike Smith, who he described as "a tough act to follow".

Mr Evans continued: "There is no doubt that as we all try to learn the 'new normal' post-Covid life is going to present many challenges to our business community. My desire is that with the resources of Inverness BID and hopefully complemented by my own wealth of business experience that we, the staff at Inverness BID, can continue to provide robust and strong support and where required valuable leadership advice to the Inverness city centre businesses.

"It is a challenge we face together, but I believe and trust the green shoots of recovery are in evidence as we head toward spring."

Mr Evans, whose previously business experience includes accountancy roles with NHS Highland and Port of Cromarty Firth, adds that he is looking forward to meeting stakeholders and members over the coming weeks to learn more about them, and use that knowledge to see how BID can provide help and support in the future.
