There will be no shortage of apples in Inverness in a few years as Incredible Edible Inverness has just completed planting 10 new trees.

Planted by the city;s Moray Firth Radio base, Gail from Incredible Edible Inverness (IEI) said: ”Although the trees are only a couple of years old, in another 10 years there should be plenty of fruit for the local community to enjoy. We hope local people will want to look after the trees and anyone interested should get in touch”.

Councillor Alex Graham along with helper Effie Finlay planted the final tree and said: “What IEI are doing is really beneficial to everyone as it helps people see where their food comes from as well as providing food for free.”

Chairwoman Wendy said: “IEI started just around the time of the pandemic. People were buying local food at that point and it made sense to see if food could be made available for free by growing vegetables on spare spaces right in the city. We now have five or six sites around Inverness and area where we are growing vegetables and fruit for anyone to enjoy and are always looking for help maintaining them or bringing on seedlings at home for use in the beds.”
