Inverness Whisky opens its doors in the heart of the city
Inverness Whisky has officially opened its doors in the city centre, providing whisky novices and connoisseurs with a selection of specialist bottles of the golden elixir.
Based in Market Close, the independent whisky shop sits opposite its sister venue, The Malt Room, and has been in the works for over a year now.
Inverness Whisky is the brainchild of directors, Matt Macpherson, his sister Karen Macpherson, John Donaldson and Duncan Ireland. They are now all looking forward to creating a whisky community in the heart of the Highlands.
Speaking at the shop, on its first day of opening, Matt said: "We are often asked in The Malt Room where to buy bottles of whisky, and we want to support independent, small distilleries with the shop.
"We're all big whisky fans and we want to provide more unusual options and something that whisky fans and those that are new to it wouldn't find on the supermarket shelves."
There is a stroke of serendipity to Inverness Whisky opening today (July 12) as it is six years to the day since The Malt Room opened. The directors have also hand selected bottles of a single cask whisky, that is exclusively available in the store.
Matt added: "We've done 210 bottles of single cask Ardnamurchan, that is only available in store.
"We want to create a community of whisky lovers, rather than people just buying online, so come and speak to us and chat about it."
People are welcome to come along to the shop, with the official opening day taking place tomorrow (July 13).
"Come and see the new shop," said Matt.
"It's a wee whisky cave for people to geek out, learn about it and hopefully find something they can't find anywhere else!"
Inverness Whisky is open seven days a week from 10am – 10pm.
