The new office is only down the corridor from their old location in Academy House in the city centre.

Susan White, executive director, said the charity was making the move as fundraising over the last two years has been difficult.

The move will allow them to cut costs on rent and overheads and also aligns with the staff’s blended working patterns.

Ms White said: “It is really important for our charity to have an accessible space where we can meet with people in person.

“Our aim is to provide befriending support to people who are lonely and isolated because of their mental ill health, caring role or memory loss, so we think it is essential to have somewhere to engage with people in person, and to encourage social interactions.

“During the pandemic our referrals and befriending matches have doubled, so we have taken on additional staff to cope with the demand.

“We are also looking to recruit fundraising volunteers.”
