A CARE home has got creative by recruiting some furry residents.

The staff at Isobel Fraser Care Home wanted to provide something new for their residents – and now have Mabel the cat, Floppy the rabbit, two chickens and a pond full of fish.

Based in Mayfield Road, Inverness, the pets have proved a big hit, providing comfort and companionship.

Senior carer Kara Mackay told the Inverness Courier that it has been the best thing they have done at the care home.

She said: “A lot of the residents grew up with pets, so it’s a good memory they have to reminisce about.

“This is the best thing we have done.”

With most of the residents at the care home having dementia, the furry friends are providing happy memories and some much-needed love.

The chickens provide fresh eggs, and Mabel the cat sits with residents giving them company.
