Around 200 residents in Tornagrain went to a successful community picnic, despite the occasional shower.

It was the new town’s first community event since lockdown.

They enjoyed music, games, a bouncy castle, a special Tornagrain quiz and a fundraising raffle supported by many local businesses and individuals who donated prizes.

Local musician Lewis Scroggie won praise for his performance which closed the afternoon’s entertainment.

The event raised nearly £500 which will be used to plan and run more community events and activities.

It was organised by the newly formed Tornagrain Community Association.

Chairwoman Sara Thorpe said:
“After nearly two years, it has been wonderful to see members of our community getting together to make connections, share a sense of belonging and have fun.

“The new community association has just got started and we hope this is the first of many exciting events and activities that will make our lovely growing community of Tornagrain into one of the best places to live in the Highlands.”
