TWO young Inverness entrepreneurs are looking for support for a new development of their culinary school.

Connor Rae (23) and Michael Fallows (19) started their cooking school eight months ago and have now set a Go Fund Me page to get an extra boost as they aim to move into new premises in Inverness city centre.

The founders of Michaels Culinary School have so far held the cooking lessons from a flat in the city centre, but are now looking to open the school to more students.

“The concept for the school came from an idea that I had a long time ago,” said Mr Rae.

“What I wanted was to make people feel more confident in their own home, in their own cooking abilities.

“It’s a concept that is quite popular in the central belt but as far as I have seen no one has tried to take it up further north for whatever reason.

“The expansion will allow us to take on more students and hopefully running more classes.

“We are looking to secure a new space and are looking into the technical side.

“I studied horticulture going through school and I specialise in kitchen gardens and I am very passionate about growing something fresh, taking it from the field to the kitchen and then cooking with it something that is special and unique.

“My father is a cook, both my brothers have gone through training school in cooking at some level – one of them is training to be a pastry chef in Edinburgh and the other has done various academies. I guess the family environment really influenced me.

“I think that Inverness does have an entrepreneurial spirit and it’s nice to see young people going forwards and try to build new businesses, even if it doesn’t happen very often, but when it happens, those companies are met with success and a lot of enthusiasm.

The school offers in-depth courses and one-shot classes of three hours.
