COMMUNITY councils across the Inverness and Nairn area are coming to terms with a revised funding scheme agreed by Highland Council.

New arrangements will see Dores and Essich lose the most, with its annual grant lowered from £1098.20 to £972.12, but others like Inverness South and Westhill will see their grants more than double.

The new formula provides each of the 156 community councils in the Highlands with a core grant plus an additional amount per elector.

It is the first review since 2002 and will be implemented from April 2012 and staggered over two years.

Community councils use their money ton support local groups and pay for improvements to their area.
