The former Olive Grove Café in Crown has been taken over by Dave and Anne Marie McLeod, and is now called Am Bothan.

Café culture appears to be well established in Inverness’s Crown area.

With the opening of Am Bothan this week, there are now three coffee and food outlets at the busy intersection of Kingsmills, Southside, Union and Crown Roads – the others being the Crown Deli and the Cup and Cone.

The Country Larder sells ground coffee, there are snacks at Harry Gow’s and Crown Stores, and the Heathmount and Corriegarth hotels are nearby.

Am Bothan is owned by Anne Marie and Dave McLeod.

Anne Marie said: “There is a café culture here in Crown now with everyone doing their bit, but we will be trying to bring something different to the party.

“At present with Covid there is only room for two or three tables inside, so we will be concentrating on takeaway, serving good honest grub and using good fresh local produce. We have erected shelf tables round the walls to allow social distancing.

“We saw the former church café the Olive Grove was closed and thought it was a good site so got in touch with the owners and organised a lease.”

Am Bothan will use Jenny Bowsher’s, Baked by Jen, Elizabeth Brown’s Capability Brown, Three Little Bakers and local butchers Hastie and Dyce.
