The cancellation of a planned climate strike in Inverness city centre tomorrow due to coronavirus has failed to deter campaigners.

Instead of gathering in Falcon Square as part of a global effort to call for more action to combat climate change, organisers want people to participate in something different.

The Inverness branch of the Scottish Youth Climate Strike is keen for supporters to get involved in a so-called digital strike instead.

A spokeswoman said: "With the rapid growth of the coronavirus in Scotland, our major strikes have ceased to be viable.

"The in-person march and protest on April 3 has been cancelled in all locations.

"On April 3, we will be hosting a massive digital strike instead.

"We will ask you to take pictures with your signs and post them with #ClimateStrikeOnline, tagging SYCS. It takes five minutes to do, but will gain high exposure if enough people do it."
