THE newest link in Inverness's active travel network has been welcoming its first users.
Cyclists and other active travellers this week made use of the new connection linking Cradlehall to Inverness Campus.
Part of the Scottish Government-funded Low Carbon Travel and Transport Challenge, the project was built across HIE-owned land at the campus and designed to link it with Cradlehall Business Park and encourage more people to go car-free and plump for walking, wheeling and cycling to make their everyday journeys.

Highland Council's economy and infrastructure committee chairman, Ken Gowans, speaking when work on the new link got under way earlier this year, hailed it as "a great, convenient link in the east" of the city that would help people "make healthier travel choices that will also make a significant contribution to tackling the climate and ecological emergency".
He added: “Linking directly into the campus from Cradlehall Business Park, this route was already used, despite being just a dirt track – that is why it was recognised as an opportunity in the Inverness East Masterplan.
"I am sure it will be very well used, especially by people travelling for work and leisure to the campus, city centre and retail park, as well as people looking to get outdoors and be more active for leisure.”
The work was carried out by contractor Gow Groundworks.
