The railway in Whin Park will open on April 2 with upgraded features and more to come.

Now in its fourth year of Highland Hospice ownership, the railway will soon have a new station which is currently being built, aiming to be completed late spring.

Volunteers have been hard at work clearing overgrown bushes and weeds and replanting bulbs and shrubs that will bring colour and life to the half-mile track.

The volunteers have also recreated the Hospice sunflower logo out of painted stones.

The popular local fixture raised more than £30,000 last year as it saw almost 25,000 passengers visit.

Whilst steam engine Chrissy was out of service during this period, she is back this year running alongside two petrol engines, Uncle Frank and Uncle John.

The Railway will be open every day until April 18, then at weekends until the end of June.

Daily operating recommences for the school holidays from July to mid-August then reverts to weekends until the autumn school break, October 8-23, when the 2022 season ends.
