Nine finalists took part in this year's Ness Factor competition, singing in front of almost 400 guests.

The final was held at the Drumossie Hotel in Inverness and was won by Caroline Devine from Dingwall.

Asked if she had expected to triumph she said: “Not at all – the standard this year was exceptionally high. There was just so many good singers this year.”

Kelly Davidson took home the trophy for most inspirational fundraiser, managing to relocate from Caithness to Inverness and start a new university course while rehearsing, fundraising for the hospice and returning home at weekends to organise her fundraising events.

Emma Nicol, a community fundraiser at the hospice, said: “A huge thanks to event organiser Lornagh Siegel, who gave so much time to planning and organising it.

“All nine contestants performed brilliantly and looked beautiful, having been styled by The Dolls House, Inverness. Thank you to our fantastic judges and all the corporate sponsors who made the event such a success. The team at Limelight’s excelled themselves with the professional set up, even Simon Cowell was impressed.”

Organisers are already looking ahead to next year’s contest and anyone who thinks they have what it takes to be the next singing star is urged to register their interest in the event by sending an email to Ms Nicol at e.nicol@highlandhospice.org.uk
