The route apparently has more rapid charge points (CPs) than any other route in Britain, and a charge point every 17 miles.

Latest data from Leasing.com reveals that one in five UK motorists is seeking Battery Electric Vehicles for their next new car lease. and with that in mind, the firm said, EV-friendly road trips are tipped to continue their popularity with touring drivers across the country.

The 516-mile NC500 reaches the top spot thanks to the sheer volume of rapid chargers, reducing vehicle downtime whilst taking in some of Scotland’s most historic landmarks.

It was closely followed by the Coastal Way in Wales – with a rapid charge point on average every 41 miles – and then the Atlantic Highway through Devon and Cornwall which has a rapid charge point every 22 miles but fewer charge poutnsts in total – 30 against the Coastal Way’s total of 51.

There are also a total of 30 charge points located around the NC500

Dave Timmis, founder and chief executive of Leasing.com, said: “Since Covid became a part of our lives, many of us have taken to exploring the UK instead of going abroad, and now many of the iconic road trips are achievable in an EV.

“It means more of us can enjoy life on the road, while still being able to reduce our emissions and lowering our carbon footprint.”
