Residents are being asked to help name new housing in Nairn after Highland Council reached out to the community for suggestions – but time to do so is running out.

The Nairn River Community Council has been asked to propose, on behalf of the community, a suitable name for the new block of 12 social housing flats and new Nairn CAB headquarters, which are nearing completion on the site of the former Community Centre in King Street.

Suggestions received from the public will be tabled at the next public meeting tomorrow (Wednesday, March 16) for discussion with Nairn’s Highland councillors and the developer with a view to agreeing a proposed name.

If a name cannot be agreed at a community council meeting the matter will be taken forward to the next Highland Council Nairnshire committee for decision by local councillors.

A spokesman said: “If you have a suggestion for a name for these new flats – please let us know by emailing info.nrivercc@gmail.com or give one of your community councillors a phone.”
