A NAIRN charity is looking for new volunteer drivers to help community members and groups in the area.

Nairn Community Transport, which has been operating for around two decades in the area as a no-profit transport

provider for community groups, is now looking for new volunteers to join behind the wheel of their four buses.

The charity offers the support to the community charging only based on mileage to cover fuel costs ad provides training to individuals who want to support their own community group.

Board member Gary Henderson said: "Volunteers can give as much time as they are able to.

"We currently support a variety of different community groups and charities ranging from sports to community lunches.

"As with anything that is voluntary, people tend to move on and they can join for what could be a few months or a few years. Often it happens that new drivers joins when their children are involved in a community group, and then they go on when the child is no longer in that group, so it's constantly changing."

New volunteers will be put through the MiDAS training course for minibus drivers, the next training day being May 11 but with more training dates planned.

If you are interested in becoming a volunteer you can get in touch via their Facebook page, email contact@nairncc.co.uk, or calling 01667 453476.
