A NAIRN man has admitted assaulting his epileptic partner after seeing red when she took longer than expected running an errand.

A witness saw Edward Hughes (59) violently pushing the woman in a communal hallway of their home in Royal Walk.

The incident was captured by way of a neighbour’s video doorbell on December 17 last year just before 10pm, Inverness Sheriff Court was told.

Fiscal depute Emma MacEwan said: “The accused lunged at her with his arms out in front.

“He has pushed the complainer and she has stumbled at this time.”

Hughes admitted pushing the woman and pulling her hair so hard that clumps of it were found on the floor by police when officers were called by the neighbour.

Clare Russell, defending Hughes, said the woman had gone to run an errand and had failed to come home when he expected her to.

She added: “He accepts he let his emotions get the better of him.”

Sheriff Robert Frazer deferred sentence for the joiner to be of good behaviour for a period of three months.
