The Play House in Nairn is closed this weekend following the passing of one of its members of staff.

An announcement on the nightclub's Facebook page reads: "It is with great sadness to announce the passing of our door steward Sam Beaven, Sam was an integral part of The Play House family and will be missed sorely by not only staff members, but customers alike.

"As you will understand, we have taken the decision to close our doors this weekend, which we have no doubt is the correct thing to do.

"A JustGiving page has been set up in memory of Sam if anyone wishes to contribute. All proceeds will go directly to Sam’s family, including mother Helen, who our thoughts are with at this sad time.

"Fly High, Sam."

The Just Giving appeal was launched by Rhys Lloyd who, on his own Facebook page, pays tribute to Sam.

"Sam Beaven was a truly incredible man and would have done anything to help anyone," he said.

"Taken too soon from us all.

"Our deepest thoughts are with his family through this terrible time and many friends wish to show their love and support."

No cause of death is given for Sam's passing on Friday.

Mr Lloyd writes on the JustGiving page: "Sam was an incredible friend and colleague to many of us and his approachable, exciting personality has truly left a mark on our lives and will be greatly missed.

"The loss of a family member is the hardest thing to deal with and I wish to help in any form possible to ease the financial costs that may arise.

"Sam's amazing legacy will never be replaced but I hope we can all help and show how many hearts this truly amazing lad touched in his time with us all."

The online appeal has a target of £3000 and is already sitting at £1870.

Others who knew Sam have also been paying tribute online.

Tracy Smith said: "Rest in peace you beautiful soul, will always cherish school with you! Xx"

Michael Mulligan said: "Gutted to hear this. Sam was honestly the most laidback nicest bouncer you would ever meet. My condolences to Helen and the family."

And Zoe Louise Ashford said: "So sad he was a lovely guy, always had a smile on his face."
