Nairn man made threats via social media to woman before being caught with cocaine

A Nairn man who sent offensive and threatening messages has been ordered to carry out unpaid work in the community.

Ellis Williams (20) previously admitted sending the communications on November 10 last year..

He also admitted being in the possession of cocaine when he was searched at Burnett Road police station, Inverness, on the following day the court heard.

Fiscal depute Pauline Gair said Williams, of Wester Lochloy, had made threats to the woman via Snapchat.

Among them was a warning about "the boys" being sent round.

She described the cocaine found during a police search on November 11 as a "trace amount".

Sheriff David Harvie imposed a community payback order with a supervision requirement for one year and 80 hours of unpaid work.
