A MAN was annoyed shop staff would not sell him alcohol and created two disturbances in two days.

Inverness Sheriff Court heard Mark Allsop (52) of Church Street, Nairn, was a regular at his local Co-op.

Fiscal depute David Barclay said: “He was generally aggressive and abusive on two occasions but the member of staff was perfectly entitled to refuse him. The second time he lashed out at a sign. He should have accepted their decision and left quietly.”

Solicitor Marc Dickson said: “It was the result of a misunderstanding. He had attended there hundreds of times before to buy his alcohol, but the staff had the impression that he was buying some for someone under age. That was not the case.”

Fining Allsop £335, Sheriff Eilidh Macdonald said: “This was totally unpleasant, just because you didn’t get your own way.”
