A popular event in the Nairnshire gardening calendar is set for its annual outing this weekend.

Nairn and District Gardening Club will be running its 41st Annual Show at Nairn Community & Arts Centre on Saturday.

Club chairwoman Anne Vincent said: “While this may conjure up images of prize carrots and giant onions, it is important to realise that we also have sections for craftwork, photography, home-cooking and young gardeners’ classes which extend to making a bug hotel, an animal from fruit and vegetables, a Lego item and artwork, to mention just a few of the categories.

“This promises to be a splendid afternoon topped off by tea and cakes produced by the club’s star bakers. In addition, we shall be selling plants propagated by club members and there will a raffle and tombola.

“We particularly welcome new exhibitors and hope for a very high attendance once again.”

Schedules are available from the community centre, Nairn Library, Nairn Wool Shop, Green’s Nurseries, The Flower Shop, Mackenzie and Cruickshank in Forres and Wester Hardmuir.

The event will open to the public at 1pm with the awards presentation at 3.30pm.
