Police Scotland appeal for witnesses after mystery rain-damaged clue left at scene of car break-in in Inverness
Police in Inverness are appealing for witnesses after a car was broken into and a mystery note left at the scene.
Officers believe the message - destroyed by rainwater - may have been left by a witness to the crime.
The break-in happened on the city’s Balnain Street earlier this week.
A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: “We are appealing for witnesses after a car was broken into on Balnain Street in Inverness, sometime between 22:00 on Tuesday 09 April and 13:45 on Wednesday 10 April.
“A note was left on the car, however it was damaged due to the rain and as such was illegible.
“We believe this note was left by a witness, so if this was you we are especially keen to speak with you.”
Anyone who suspects they saw anything, or anyone, linked to the crime, or have any CCTV or cameras that may have picked up the incident, are asked to get in touch through the Police Scotland website, or on 101 quoting incident ref 1902 of 10/04/2024.
