Loyal customers of one of the longest established restaurants in Inverness are being assured that its latest closure is strictly temporary.

The Castle Restaurant, which dates back to the 1950s, may have had to close its doors to diners in line with Scottish Government anti-Covid restrictions, but had continued to offer an evening takeaway service from the door.

However, even this service will stop over the next few days as the Castle Street eatery pauses to re-vamp its customer offering.

A message posted on Facebook explained: "We've taken the decision to close for 10 days to revise our menu and sort an efficient delivery service. Thanks for all your support! Back soon!"

The restaurant came under new management towards the end of last year when Jane MacPhee, owner of the Jammy Piece café at Muirtown and its subsidiaries in the Eastgate Shopping Centre and Strathdearn community hub in Tomatin, took over.

Previous owners Richard and Lorraine Comfort had previously announced they were giving up the restaurant, putting it at risk of closure.
