City Mobility staff welcomed Drew Hendry to its premises last Friday, to show him in more detail the work that they do.

The firm, with a staff of 11, celebrates its 20th anniversary this year.

As well as supplying, maintaining, repairing and fitting specialist cars adapted for use by disabled drivers it also services and repairs mobility scooters and powerchairs and offers the machines both privately and through the Motability Powered Wheelchair and Scooter scheme.

Managing director Carol Elliot, who herself has reduced mobility, was happy to welcome Mr Hendry.

“The business has a long history of serving older people and people with disabilities across the top half of Scotland and was delighted to welcome Drew to demonstrate and discuss the unique services we provide and the challenges our customers face going forward,” she said.

A supporter of the Motability Scheme, which allows people in receipt of a qualifying motability allowance to use it for leasing a new affordable car, wheelchair accessible vehicle, scooter or powered wheelchair, Mr Hendry said: “City Mobility is the perfect example of a business firmly established in the Highlands designed to help those who need it most, and I’d like to congratulate them on their upcoming 20th anniversary.

“Seeing first-hand the services they offer and hearing from some of the team has shown me the passion and enthusiasm they all have for the work they do.

“Times are tough for many households in the Highlands right now, and those with reduced mobility may have extra challenges and costs to overcome.

“The Motability scheme, coupled with City Mobility, will continue to help in alleviating some of the logistical and financial issues faced by many.”
