A night of film music performed by volunteer musicians who only rehearsed together the same day raised £2700 for Cash for Kids.

The concert at Inverness Cathedral, was free admission, but donations flooded in from a capacity audience of well over 300.

The Cash for Kids Symphony Orchestra was formed by Paul Wilson in 2018.

Mr Wilson, who plays with Ness Sinphonia and the Highland Chamber Orchestra, was aided by wife Janet in forming his own orchestra and the musicians have now had three outings.

He said: “There were 300 people seated, and some were standing at the back the demand was so great, and 75 musicians turned up from all over the Highlands as well as the central belt and Aberdeen.

“Susie Dingle from Caithness was conductor again and it was a tremendous concert. This was the most cash we raised out of the three concerts we have held.

“The concerts are run in a fast and furious style, with only rehearsals on the morning, although all the musicians are sent the music in advance.”

He thanked the cathedral for the venue and his employers, the Cairngorm Group, for sponsoring the event.
