Police Scotland have warned residents to be vigilant after another spate of thefts and break-ins in Inverness.

Between July 21 and 30, various pieces of equipment were stolen from boats moored at Foyers on Loch Ness. Some items have been recovered.

Overnight between August 1 and 2, golf clubs, a golf bag, sports clothing and a Peppa Pig child’s bike were stolen from a shed in Alamein Road. The total cost of the stolen goods is around £1500.

In the early hours of August 2, electrical equipment and cash were taken from a house in Balloan Road.

On the same day, various items including a games console and a mobile phone were stolen from a property in King Brude Gardens.

At 5am the following day, a man was disturbed in a house on Park Road. He left the scene on a bicycle in the direction of Bishops Road.

Officers have also charged a 31-year-old man in connection with a break-in at Crown Medical Practice at around 8pm on August 2. They are still searching for a second man in relation to the incident.

The latest incidents follow a series of crimes in Craigard Place, Blarmore Avenue and Canal Road in the last fortnight.

Inspector Mark Rasdale said: "We are disappointed by this series of recent acquisitive crimes and I would like to assure people that we are carrying out robust enquiries into all of these incidents.

"We are keeping an open mind about links between any of these incidents and would ask anyone with information which could help us to pass this on as soon as you can.

"Anyone who believes they have seen any suspicious activity, people or vehicles should let us know.

"We are also seeking the support of the public to make sure that they minimise the risk of becoming victims of crime.

"Nothing is entirely fool-proof but simple steps such as double checking that all doors are locked and storing any valuable items out of sight can help deter thieves.

"Many criminals are opportunists so our message is simple – don’t give them the opportunity."

Enquiries are also continuing after cars were vandalised in Nairn, causing damage worth thousands of pounds.

Local business group Nairn Connect BID has teamed up with Police Scotland and Crimestoppers, offering a reward of £500 to anyone who provides information leading to a conviction.

Chairman Michael Boylan said: "Nairn is a tourism town and has a good reputation for low crime.

"It’s regarded as a great place for tourists to visit.

"We want to make sure it stays like that so that people continue to visit the area.

"Incidents like this obviously don’t do the town’s reputation any good. It shows the town in a negative light which is not what anyone wants."

Anyone with information on any of the incidents should call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
