The Art Society of Inverness is holding its annual exhibition at the WASPS Creative Arts Academy in the city this week.

The exhibition is open between 10am and 5pm every day until Saturday, with an additional evening opening until 8pm. On the final day of the exhibition, on Sunday, it will be open from 10am until 3pm.

The annual exhibition has been staged every year for almost half a century now and includes original paintings, prints and cards from over 200 society members.

Admission is free.

Many pieces available have a strong Highland or Scottish influence including various loch and coastal landscapes and well known Scottish landmarks.

Kevin O’ Neill, committee member of the Arts Society of Inverness, said: “The exhibition is put together and run entirely by the volunteer members of the society and is free to visit. Whilst a few of the members are professional artists, most are volunteers and art is an interest and important activity to many.

“By displaying members' works, the exhibition gives visitors the opportunity to enjoy art and opens up the chance for some to take up art as a hobby by joining the society, even if they are a complete beginner.

"Visitors can talk to members about the various activities, classes and workshops organised by the society throughout the year for those living in Inverness and beyond.”
