More rooms at Inverness Premier Inn

An Inverness hotel has been granted permission by Highland Council to add more bedrooms.
Only weeks after the city’s hospitality industry faced a "no room at the inn" crisis, the Premier Inn will increase its bed space.
The hotel on Millburn Road was granted permission from Highland Council to construct two two-story extensions, that will give the owners, Whitbread plc, nine additional bedrooms, bringing the total to 64.
The Millburn Premier Inn is formed by two separate blocks, the eastern one comprising bedrooms alone, and the western block accommodating bar, restaurant and bedrooms.
The two extensions will be to the eastern block and facing onto Millburn Road.
In its application, Whitbread stated that no addition will be required to the 77-space car park, and that there is no flood risk from the Mill Burn that flows past the property.
This summer hotels and B&Bs were so busy in Inverness that visitors had to sleep in their vehicles with hotels throughout the city packed out.
Last week it emerged that Inverness was in line for two major hotel boosts. Tony Story, the owner of the city’s Kingsmills Hotel, will soon be applying for permission for an 80-bedroom four star hotel in what was formerly the council service point and offices in Church Street.
And Vastint Hospitality has acquired the former municipal swimming pool site in Glebe Street from Tulloch Homes. It is understood to be earmarked to become a Moxy Hotel, part of Marriott Hotels.
