The colourful coming together of church and council returned to Inverness at the weekend.

After a three-year break due to the pandemic the Kirking of the Council ceremony returned to Inverness on Sunday.

Councillors wearing their ceremonial robes were joined by the Mayor of Saint Valery – the Highland capital's twin town in France – and representatives from its German twin city of Augsburg for the event which sees the church bless the work of Highland councillors.
