People hoping to use easyJet out of Inverness were hit by another cancellation today. (Wednesday September 6)

easyJet operations control posted online that the Inverness to London Gatwick flight EZY850 due for take-off at 9.25pm was not flying.

It is the latest of a series of disruptions to passengers out of Inverness this summer due to cancelled flights.

easyJet told customers tonight: "We’re sorry that your flight has been cancelled.

"This is due to air traffic control restrictions at London Gatwick airport caused by staffing issues.

"We understand that this will be disappointing news and we want to make it as easy as possible for you to make new plans, so here’s everything you need to know about what to do next."

easyJet then explained the "disruption to your flight is outside of our control and is considered to be an extraordinary circumstance."

The airline added: "We’ve got three options available for you – please have a look at them and choose the one that suits you best. Switch to another flight for free; choose a voucher for the full value of your ticket; or request a refund."

Customers who didn't book flights directly with easyJet and would like a voucher or refund, should contact the agency they booked with to arrange this.

easyJet holidays customers were told: "We have a dedicated easyJet holidays team who are looking after the entire holiday package you have booked with us.

"First we’ll sort your flight and then we’ll also update your transfers and hotel if required. We’ll send your new info and next steps via email so please keep looking out for it.

"It’s our priority and we’re working on it as quickly as we can. Thanks for waiting to hear from us so we can finalise it ASAP."
