Volunteers at Tesco Inshes in Inverness managed to spin over 200 miles to raise money for Highland Cross charities.

Event organiser Kirsteen Wood said: “I am so grateful for all the support – we couldn’t have done it without the local Bannatyne gym who donated the spin bikes, and Arnold Clark which provided the bikes’ transport.

“Thanks to the generosity of Inverness shoppers and the cycling power of those who volunteered to spin on the bikes we smashed the 200 miles and have raised £300 for Highland Cross charities,” she said.

The Highland Cross takes place on June 17 and will be a 50-mile duathlon, involving a 30-mile cycle and 20-mile walk from coast to coast, finishing in Beauly.

Highland Cross aims to help those across the region disadvantaged by disability, ill health or social need. The charities chosen to benefit from the event differ each year, with this year’s good causes including Aban Outdoor, Caberfeidh Horizons, Friends of Cameron House, Highland Hospice and Partnerships for Wellbeing.

Ms Wood will be taking part for the fifth time this year.
