Ian Hendrie has been traced 'safe and well', say police.

Police have stood down an appeal for a missing person after he was traced "safe and well".

Officers had launched a plea for information early on Thursday morning after Ian Hendrie (50) went missing on Wednesday.

He had not been seen since a sighting in King Brude Gardens at around 1pm yesterday.

At the time of their appeal, police said they were growing increasingly concerned for his welfare.

But in an update shortly before 1pm on Thursday, police confirmed Mr Hendrie had been found.

A police spokesperson said: "Ian Hendrie, reported missing in Inverness, has been traced safe and well.

"Thank you to everyone who shared and responded to our appeal."
