A FOOTBALL-crazy schoolboy launched his fundraising efforts this week with a charity tournament at his school to give back to the children’s charity that saved his life.

Two years ago, 13-year-old Millburn Academy pupil Dean Boyce underwent two brain operations and fought meningitis in Glasgow’s Royal Hospital for Children.

Dean raised more than £100 by hosting the competition but he continues to sell raffle tickets. He has sold more than 350 but hopes to reach a thousand.

He said: “We are really happy with how it went. I would definitely do it again.

“We aren’t finished fundraising yet. I hope we can sell loads more raffle tickets. I want to give something back to the hospital.”
